INFINITE REHEARSAL
Infinite Rehearsal is a series of allegorical
portraits and staged situations. It is a collaboration between the photographer and
professional performers, re-envisioning personal experiences within the privacy of the
studio space.
The events depicted here remain elusive and
ambiguous. The focus lies on the non-verbal
relationships between the figures, as well
as in the tension that develops within their
interactions. Impoverished communication
mediated through phones and post-it notes
is contradicted by gestures and body proximities. Intimacy and togetherness are challenged by dense remoteness and individualism.
During this process, the roles of the photographer, model, narrator and performer interchange, in an attempt to fuse the personal
with the collective.
The work is accompanied by a limited edition artist publication. Fictional dialogues
between the perfrormes and the photograper weave another layer on top of the photographic material. The pages and thus the sequence of the dialogues can be arranged in
any order, creating new context every time.
When the pages are unfolded they reveal a
broad selection of the photographic work.
